This TikTok Trend Reimagines Front Row Fits
This week was Haute Couture week, which would normally mean star-studded front rows and endless street style galleries. However, most of the presentations were displayed virtually this season, so those guests were mostly absent. It was a shame: Half the fun of fashion week is looking at the stylish attendees! But not to worry: TikTok stars filled in the gaps. On the app, creators posted their best front row-worthy fits this week, as though they were at the shows—and they completely dressed the part of a VIP at Prada, Gucci, and more.
The TikTok trend seems to have been ignited by creators such as @evelilythrifts and @andoej earlier this month. Set to Britney Spears’s “Gimme More,” they posted their best front row-inspired outfits, dressing to the theme and aesthetic of each label that they were “attending.” @andoej’s take on being a Saint Laurent guest, for instance, included an all-black fit with slouchy boots; @evelilythrifts’s Gucci-inspired ensemble was whimsical and all pink, complete with a ruffled white top, a beret, and even socks-and-heels (Alessandro Michele would definitely approve). During Couture week, the trend gained even more momentum.
Wisdom Kaye, TikTok’s best-dressed guy, offered his take on the trend just a few days ago: Our favorite look is his take on Rick Owens show attire, complete with a blue puffer and staggering platforms (a Rick signature). Nava Rose took on Chanel (a white lace blouse), Fendi (monogrammed pants), Versace (a slinky LBD), among others. Creator @akacuji took things to the next level with a vintage version of the trend, decking himself out only in secondhand pieces (his 2000s J’Adore Dior tee for his Dior front row fit? Perfection). If anything, this fun, developing trend proves that you don’t need to be at a fashion show to dress up—your at home look can be just as paparazzi-worthy.
