Five fragrance buys top of our wish list this Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day will be different this year, in exchange for dinner and drinks with our other half we may just be snuggling up on the couch with a bottle of bubbly and Netflix.
That doesn’t mean that we wouldn’t be thrilled to receive a gift on the most loved-up day of the year.
We have made a wish list of what we would love to receive, and these five fragrances are sitting right at the top of it.
Jo Malone London Scarlet Poppy Cologne Intense, €101/50ml
Jo Malone London perfumes are available as either Cologne or Cologne Intense, the former in clear glass flacons, the latter in black.
The Intense offerings are bigger and bolder scents often with inspiration from far-flung locations, while the Colognes tend to have note pairings a lot closer to home in the UK.
This new Scarlet Poppy is a big, ravishing floral inspired by the great scarlet poppy from Asia. Velvety iris, sweet fig, and Tonka bean make for a very decadent but feminine scent. Brown Thomas.
Cloon Keen Atelier Castaña EDP Perfume, €149.99/100ml
Margaret Mangan and husband Julien Checkley are the co-founders of the perfume house, Cloon Keen Atelier in Galway.
Creating fine fragrance and hand-poured, natural wax candles, the brand is now stocked in some of the world’s best perfume stores.
Eau de Parfum Castaña is a sexy floral with burnt chestnuts, golden caramel, jasmine blossoms, and vetiver. CloonKeen.com
Chanel Le Lion de Chanel EDP, €175/75ml
New Le Lion de Chanel one of its most important launches in years for the luxury brand, and who wouldn’t like some Chanel on Valentine’s Day?
In-house Chanel perfumer, Olivier Polge, created this new fragrance inspired by the emblematic lion of the brand, so loved by Coco Chanel (a Leo) that echoed throughout her fashion designs.
The perfume, a deep Oriental, has Bergamot and Lemon to start, this makes way for amber, patchouli, sandalwood, vanilla, and musk. Brown Thomas.
Sisley Izia La Nuit EDP, €103.50/30ml (8 February)
Family-owned French beauty brand Sisley has some of the world’s most coveted beauty pieces like their Black Rose that beauty editors the world over adore.
The original Izia launched almost four years ago, a personal scent creation of Isabelle d’Ornano, Vice-President of the brand.
She wanted to make a perfume to recreate the scent of a bouquet of roses, she is also behind this La Nuit version for 2021 that is a more sensual and opulent rose, perfect for Valentine’s Day! Sisley counters.
The Burren Perfumery Wild Rose EDP Perfume, €130/50ml
Last up for Valentine’s Day is this special eau de parfum from The Burren. Three years in the making and a natural fragrance, the notes here are stunning.
Sadie Chowen and her team at The Burren Perfumery use the best extracts, plants, and essences from the unique landscape of their surroundings.
For this perfume, sparkling pink grapefruit and bergamot open the fragrance before Grasse Rose Centifolia emerges before warming sandalwood rounds out the scent. The Burren Perfumery.
